Michigan’s online casino industry demonstrated remarkable resilience in April 2025, maintaining strong revenue figures despite a slight dip from March’s record-breaking performance. According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, the state’s iGaming sector generated $290.7 million total revenue.
From that number, $248.1 million in total gross receipts came from online casino games and online slot games. This is indicative of iGaming as major contributors to this success for the Wolverine State’s casino industry.
April 2025’s revenue rose 26.8% compared to April 2024. However, it dropped 4.8% from the previous month. April’s $248.1 million ranks third all-time as far as Michigan’s monthly revenue record. March set the record with $260.5 million. Meanwhile, January ranks second with $248.2 million.
Moreover, online slot games and online table games adjusted gross receipts totalled $233.1 million, a year-on-year rise of 33.9%. The state collected $48.2 million in iGaming taxes. Detroit received $13.1 million from commercial casinos. Meanwhile, tribal operators paid $5.6 million to regulators.
In comparison, New Jersey posted strong 25.2% yearly growth, earning $235.2 million from online platforms. Michigan may surpass New Jersey in 2025. Last year, New Jersey earned $2.39 billion online. Michigan followed closely with $2.2 billion in online casino revenue.
Michigan Online Casinos Continue Raking In for the State
The state’s robust performance in April solidifies its position as the second-largest iGaming market in the United States, trailing only Pennsylvania. This achievement highlights Michigan’s growing influence in the online gambling industry.
Tax revenues from online casino activities also remained significant. The state benefited from substantial tax contributions, which support public services and infrastructure. Additionally, Detroit’s commercial casinos and tribal operators provided considerable payments to their respective governing bodies, reflecting the industry’s positive economic impact.
Overall, Michigan’s online casino sector continues to thrive, with online casino games and online slot games playing pivotal roles in its sustained growth and success.
