iGaming Ontario reported $684.8 million CAD ($495.5 million USD) in revenue from online casino games during Q1 of 2025. March alone delivered a record $240.3 million CAD ($174.2 million USD) for operators.
This strong performance closed out Fiscal Year 2025 with a 33.8% year-over-year increase. Clearly, rapid growth in online casino games isn’t limited to the U.S., where states like Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania also saw record-setting revenue in March.
Ontario’s monthly handle has now exceeded $6 billion CAD ($4.35 billion USD) for six straight months. Notably, March reached a record $6.6 billion CAD ($4.79 billion USD), up 28.3% from March 2024.
Moreover, operators across the province brought in over $3.2 billion CAD in total revenue for FY 2025. This figure includes mobile sports betting, poker, and a dominant share from online casino games.
Internet casino gaming contributed more than $2.42 billion CAD, reinforcing Ontario’s position as a leader in North American iGaming. Online slot games played a major role in these results, attracting a broad audience and consistent wagers.
Ontario continues to experience sustained growth in online gaming, driven by user demand and strong operator performance.
How Does Ontario’s iGaming Revenue Measure Up to US iGaming?
When comparing Ontario to the seven U.S. states with legal online casino gaming, the province clearly ranks fourth. It trails only Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, but stands well ahead of Connecticut.
Among the top three U.S. markets, only Pennsylvania reports total wagering handle. In March, Ontario’s handle was just over 60% of Pennsylvania’s $7.9 billion. Additionally, Ontario’s total wagers were nearly three times higher than Connecticut’s $1.69 billion for the same month.
Ontario’s March revenue rose 31.6% year-over-year, surpassing the $182.6 million CAD ($132.4 million USD) posted in March 2024. The province first crossed the $200 million CAD ($145 million USD) mark in October, with $212.3 million. It then set new highs in December ($224.4 million) and January ($230.6 million), before experiencing the typical February dip caused by fewer betting days.
In March, peer-to-peer poker generated a rake of $148 million CAD ($107.3 million USD), nearly matching last year’s performance. However, revenue from poker reached $6.6 million CAD ($4.8 million USD), the second-highest monthly total since Ontario’s market launched in April 2022. Still, this figure was 7% below the March 2024 record of $7.1 million CAD.
Overall, Ontario continues to show strong growth and competitive positioning in the North American iGaming space, even compared to long-established U.S. markets.
