Online casino operators in Pennsylvania have reported a record iGaming revenue for December 2024. The Keystone State’s acquired total revenue from gambling in December totalled $533.1 million (£463.5 million/€517.3 million). This earning is 0.2% lower than the previous year and also 5.2% less than November’s $562.4 million record hold.
However, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) highlighted in their report that the revenue garnered from the online gambling operators within the state. According to the report, the monthly revenue for December 2024 hit $223.6 million, 35.5% ahead of December 2023 and 11.5% above November’s existing record.
Of this total, $164.3 million came from real money online slot games, up 40.5% year-on-year. Internet table-games revenue also increased by 24.2%, while online poker revenue edged up 2.9% to $2.5 million.
Moreover, players spent $4.28 billion playing online slot games during December, as well as $3.01 billion on internet table games. However, online poker spending was not disclosed by the report.
Record Earnings of Online Casino Games in Pennsylvania for 2024
Online casino games operators within the Keystone State have made quite a strong showing in 2024. The industry set five records last year, coming in February, March, October, November and December.
There was only one month in 2024 where platforms didn’t reach $200 million. That said, online casinos continue to rise in popularity and have resulted in a new record yearly total of $2.71 billion in 2024, which shattered 2023’s figure of $2.11 billion.
In terms of tax revenue, for 2024, online casino game operators contributed nearly $950 million. Pennsylvania has a notoriously higher tax structure among states with legal online casinos, with online slots taxed at 54% as table games are set at 16%.
However, the high taxes haven’t hindered operators from joining the Pennsylvania online casino market, which include bet365 and Fanatics in 2024. Because of the rates, the vertical produced $948 million in tax revenue for the Commonwealth in 2024.
To date, iGaming has brought the lifetime total to $2.98 billion, which should cross $3 billion this month, according to market experts. With such big numbers, it’s safe to say that the Commonwealth has been reaping the fruits of having a thriving iGaming market in its territory.
