Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto’s FULL HOUSE Act has been hindered in the Senate after facing Republican opposition. The bill aimed to reverse gambling tax restrictions implemented by the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB), which capped annual gambling-loss deductions at 90%.
Cortez Masto introduced the legislation to protect gamblers, casino workers, and the broader gaming industry. However, Senate Republicans blocked the measure, citing budgetary concerns. The bill had bipartisan support, but it failed to secure the votes needed to advance.
The setback is being felt across the iGaming industry. Operators of online casino games and online slot games expressed frustration. They had hoped the bill would help stabilize the market and encourage high-stakes play.
Ramifications of Barring the FULL HOUSE Act
Gaming analysts predict fewer big-spending players will participate due to the capped tax deduction. This change could decrease the volume of wagers on online casino games, especially among high rollers. Smaller operators, in particular, expect a decline in revenue.
“The current tax cap discourages serious play,” said one executive from a leading iGaming firm. “It creates uncertainty for both players and platforms.”
