Hand of the Devil

Hand of the Devil

The forbidden can be attractive to a lot of people, and that explains why hell/devil themed slot machines tend to come in from developers on a regular basis. We get one more slot with a devil themed design here, though it’s a Bally release and one of the earlier ones at that, so don’t expect any advanced graphics from this one.

Played with 30 active lines on 5×3 reels, Hand of the Devil gives the player wild symbols, scatters and free spins with locking wilds multipliers, making it a decent choice for anyone interested in having access  to cool features.

Betting

Your bets need to have 40 coins in them at all times, even though the game only gives you 30 lines in exchange. There is an additional 10 coins wager, which is paid to cover the slot’s features. The value of the coins is between $0.01 and $10, which should give you a total betting range of $0.40 to $400.

Hand of the Devil Jackpot

While you can get a decent reward from the regular combinations or via scatters appearing on the reels, it’s the free spins that will give you the top payout. In there, there are up to 5x multipliers which can improve any win that may be coming your way at that point.

Bally seems to have two major types of slot machines, RTP wise. Some oft them are somewhere near the 94% mark, while others are designed to be more in line with the online industry, and they’re set up near 96%. In the case of Hand of the Devil, we get the former unfortunately. The RTP is at 94.02% in its case, which is not quite at the level that you’d expect for an online slot, but it’s OK for a land-based machine.

Special Features

While the features delivered in Hand of the Devil are not that different from those available in other slots, there are some very interesting elements to be found, particularly once you trigger the free spins.

Wild Symbols

A Wild logo, with flames rising up behind it, is going to be your substitute in the game. You don’t get to use it in any other way, except as a substitute. The limitation comes from the fact that only the last four columns can get this symbol, so without the first reel you can’t have a combo formed out of wilds alone. As for the role of the substitute, it will come in when you form a combo with matching regular icons, but not with scatters.

Free Spins With Locking Wild Multipliers

Gaining access to the free spins feature is done when there are 3+ Hand of the Devil logos scattered around. These also pay when 2+ appear, but for the free spins you need a minimum of 3. 10 free spins will be offered at this point.

A random extra wild symbol is selected for this feature, and it will apply a multiplier, ranging from 1x to 5x. The extra wilds are added to the middle three columns only.

Design

With a theme that uses the Devil for inspiration, you naturally can expect for a lot of fire to be part of the design. I’ve seen modern slot machines feature the Devil before, and they tend to look better than what we’re seeing in Hand of the Devil. The game has several logos in use, along with card suits that are devil themed and Royals which have no relevance in this case. An average looking slot at best, Hand of the Devil has quite a few competitors with the same type of theme, but improved graphics.

Summary

Hand of the Devil might have a couple of good features, but it doesn’t do as well graphics or RTP wise, so it’s not a game that I’d really recommend.
