The company’s two founders were mathematicians with decades of experience in the gambling industry, in which they specialized. David Little and Peter Causley are these two founders. While Causley had experience working at Aristocrat since the early 90s, Little previously had a company called Gameworks International, which had as as clients the likes of Novomatic and NextGen.

At first, the company created content for land-based titles, their main client being IGT. For the first six years or so, they did this, after which they made their first steps to the online and started working on their own games. Lightning Box Games launched its first online slot machine in 2010. Since then, they followed up with the 50+ slots that they call their own, constantly improving them.

A big moment for them was the deal they signed at the end of 2017, with the Quickfire platform. Becoming one of the developers available on that platform, this made them available to 200+ new casinos.

Lightning Box Games already has more than 50 slot machines, and they seem to be focusing 100% on this type of content, as they don’t have anything else for us. The games are using HTML5 these days, though they started out with Flash and Java.

I’m fairly satisfied with the range of the stories which are being told in their games, though they have some very common themes along the more unique options. One of the things that I don’t really appreciate about Lightning Box Games would be the design quality of their slots, even their newer ones. The company’s roots in the land-based market are visible here, as they don’t quite manage to reach the sophistication of the games available from online-only game creators.
