NextGen Gaming is an older company, with a history which goes back to 1999, but which is one of the NYX development studios at this point. They’ve continued to release high quality casino games under their own brand, even after they were acquired by NYX. These games are available to 170+ casinos from all over the world. NextGen’s share of the 600+ games available via NYX is about 190+ titles.
Another thing to note about NextGen is that the company is based in Australia. They have collaborations with companies like Aristocrat, taking their slot machines from land-based titles to the online market. They provide their games both under their own names, and as part of other platforms, so it’s not always evident that they’re the creators of some of the slot machines you will see out there. It’s a different strategy compared with developers that focus on building their own brand, but they still got to be fairly well known in this industry.
Almost two decades have passed since NextGen Gaming has been created, back in 1999. The company has relied on an approach that had it dealing with other businesses for the most part (B2B), so they will often be present at casinos under the names of different companies. They are based in London, with additional offices in Stockholm and Sydney. They were on their own for a long time, but eventually they become part of another company.
NextGen Gaming has been bought by NYX and were made one of their game studios back in 2012, but luckily this only meant that they could continue working on high quality slot machines. Sometimes you will also find them under the name SG Digital (a NYX and SGI partnership, one of the biggest in the gambling industry).
The NextGen Gaming brand is clearly not new, and they’ve been working on slot machines for a long time. They amassed an impressive collection of over 190 titles so far, mostly of them being slot machines. The quality gets better every year, and these days they are releasing only titles which work on mobile devices as well, not just on desktops. Their games are translated into 26 different languages.
Among the things that I found enjoyable about the NextGen releases, I would mention the graphics as being among their pros. Just check out games like A Dragons Story, Foxin Wins, Wild West 3 or Polterheist, and I’m sure you will have as much fun with them as I did.
They’re not neglecting features either in their games, and they will often supplement them with the help of a SuperBet system which has multiple levels. The more you wager extra, the better the features which are active. Other innovative features which are trademarked by NextGen include the likes of Select-A-Play, With the Up Wild, Dynareel and Slide a Wild.
NextGen Gaming even dabbled a bit in the branded slot category, with games like King Kong, Justice League, An Evening With Holly Madison or Judge Dredd.
One of their most interesting slot machines in the past has been Medusa, a game which got a sequel recently, and it’s proven just as fun to play. Medusa II is one of the popular slots from NextGen that I’d recommend, particularly since it also has an excellent RTP. Some of the other great games from NextGen are Jackpot Jester 50,000, Fat Cat and the Foxin Wins series.
I’ve discovered some very interesting slot machines in the NextGen collection, RTP wise. There are some impressive games which have an RTP of over 97% from them. I’d recommend you go for slots like Starmania (97.9%), Wolfpack Pays (97.8%), Medusa II (97.1%), Spins Sorceress (97.1%), Monster Wins (97.1%) or Robin Hood: Prince of Tweets (97%).
