Among the developers that have entered the market in the last couple of years, few have made as big of an impression on players, as Big Time Gaming did. Creators of the MegaWays system and big believers in the power of super high volatility slot machines, they came up with some innovative solutions and gave us titles like Bonanza, Extra Chilli or Book of Gods, among several others with similar gameplay. You can find them at some of the major online casinos, so locating their games and starting to play them should be easy.
The company’s offices are located in Sydney, Australia, while their games are licensed in a very respectable jurisdiction, in Alderney, along with others obtained from Canada and Gibraltar.
With over 100 casinos hosting their games, Big Time Gaming has indeed made it to the big stage, and it’s been a relatively short period of just 7 years since they launched, which makes it all the more impressive.
History of Big Time Gaming
Big Time Gaming has been established in 2011, and since then they have managed to create and launch less than two dozen slot machines, along with a number of other titles. It’s not a big studio, but its founders are highly experienced, totaling a couple of decades on the job in the gaming industry. The minds behind the rapid growth of Big Time Gaming, particularly from the last couple of years, are Nik Robinson (CEO and in this industry since 1996), Huw McIntosh (CTO, over a decade of experience at companies like New Tech Media or OpenBet) and Ian Schmidt (Creative Director, comes from Rock Star Games).
One of their first breaks into the market came when they signed a distribution deal with Quickfire, back in September 2012. This allowed them to put their slots in front of players from casinos that were part of this network. Their approval for a gaming license from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission came a couple of months later, in December 2012.
Fast forward just one month, to January 2013, and they’re announcing a partnership with OpenBet, to provide them with new games, and BTG had a dozen titles at the time to give them. They went on to sign-up several large casino brands over the course of 2013, and then they finished the year with a bang, signing another partnership, this time with Core Gaming. Next, they went live at Mr Green Casino as well.
One of their first more impressive slots, Viking Quest, was released in the fall of 2014, and it included Mega symbols. A similar game was released a couple of months later, under the name Temple Quest.
Their most important release, and the one that would prove to be their biggest move, was yet to come. In December 2015, Big Time Gaming announces their first MegaWays title, Dragon Born, and in January 2016 it becomes available at Leo Vegas, offering 117,649 ways to win. The next couple of years were dominated by releases which used this system, and the company’s bet on this trademarked invention paid off in a big way.
Bonanza (December 2016), White Rabbit (October 2017), Extra Chilli, Book of Gods and Donuts continued the series of slot machines with innovative features and very high volatility, and the recent ones proved especially popular. These days, the games launched by this developer get the attention of players immediately, as they have proven in the past that they can pay big.
As for Big Time Gaming, they kept signing new partnerships and more casinos have them live as part of their offer. They even started licensing their MegaWays system to other developers, which wanted a piece of its popularity.
Games
BTG is mainly a developer of slot machines, and it’s what they’re good at, but several other categories are also covered, so they have a more complete offering than it might seem at first. Blackjack, roulette and scratch cards (TapCards) are part of their collection.
As for the quality of their games, I’d definitely recommend them to the professional player. Especially with the release of the MegaWays slots, they’ve offered several highly volatile titles which are not likely to appeal to the casual player that’s just looking to have some fun. Wins of significant value will not come often, but on the other hand if you do get a major feature, you could even win a life-changing amount playing one of their slot machines.
Innovation is another element that they seem to have down, and they didn’t stop with the MegaWays. For example, in Book of Gods they used special expanding symbols to great effect, so they’re still trying to surprise, even after finding something that works.
Popular Titles
Their older slot machines are not that special, even the ones which try to be original. With the appearance of MegaWays slots in their collection, players started paying attention to this developer. Bonanza was the first to get a lot of attention, and its successor, Extra Chilli, was also a big hit. Players discovered that they could hit big jackpots in these games, and that few limits were put in place. Other recent releases, like Book of Gods or Donuts, have also been very popular, as they continued the trend of the ultra high volatility slots, while incorporating some new features.
Highest RTP Games
Usually, you will find that the popular slot machines from Big Time Gaming are all worth looking into, with the RTP going over 96%. You have 96.82% for Extra Chilli, 97.72% for White Rabbit, 96.35% for Book of Gods, or 96.54% in the case of Donuts. These are also some of their most popular slot machines, and obviously they’re preferred for a good reason.
Don’t go for some of their older games though, not without checking their RTP first, as there are several which offer little back to the player, and Lucky Streak (93%) or Golden Goals (92%) are perfect examples of that.
